On February 22, 2022, the Bureau of Standards and Inspection (BSMI) of the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Taiwan announced new standards CNS 15936 (105 edition) (EMC) and CNS 15598-1 (109 edition) (Safety) for IT/AV multimedia equipment, CNS 15663 No. Section 5 "Contained Labeling" (Edition 102) (RoHS) comes into effect.
The new standard will be implemented from the date of publication, that is, on February 22, 2022, and the old standard will be discontinued from January 1, 2024. During the transition period, the two sets of standards will be used in parallel.
BSMI Updates Certification Standards
The original CNS standard usage time:
1. New certification application: Acceptable until January 1, 2024;
2. Certificates that have been certified: can be used until the expiration date; if the original certificate needs to be changed, an application must be submitted before January 1, 2024; if the product contains batteries, additional tests are required;
3. Certificate extension:
(1) Before December 31, 2023, the original standard can be used to apply for certificate extension (valid for 3 years), and can be used until the expiration date of the certificate;
(2) From January 1, 2024, new applications must be processed according to the new standards.
4. Declaration of conformity: The declaration of conformity that has been applied for according to the original standard before December 31, 2023 should be re-issued according to the new standard before December 31, 2024. If the update is not completed by then, it will be The original Declaration of Conformity will become invalid as of January 1, 2009.
Time for the new CNS standard:
1. BSMI registration: implementation from January 1, 2024;
2. BSMI Declaration of Conformity (DoC): Executed from January 1, 2025
